Parts designed by high-precision CNC machining have some characteristics

Many parts designed for high-precision CNC machining have features such as grooves and cavities that have corners that need to be machined. Since the drill bits used for CNC precision parts machining are round, these corners will be rounded to a certain extent. The rounder your corners are (without affecting your design), the better your end use will be. Here are some guidelines for the precision machining industry to help you further your understanding.

The radius of any corner should be at least 1/3 the depth of the cavity and as large as possible. If you can make the radius slightly higher than this recommended value, a high precision CNC machine can work in a circular path compared to a 90 degree angle. Your end result will be an improved surface finish on the corners of your part.

For floor radii, 0.5MM, 1MM, and no radius are all possible because many CNC drills have flat ends. But it's still best to check with your supplier to see if your design matches the equipment they have for CNC precision part machining for your project. You may find that slight adjustments to the corner radius and floor radius end up producing an excellent surface finish and saving you time and money.

Follow this design tip and others to achieve part designs that are ideal for high-precision CNC machining. Below are some further precision machining guidelines that can help you design a successful CNC machined part.

Precision machining Maximum CNC machining size: 3000x1200x850mm

Advantage

high speed

High dimensional accuracy

high surface finish

Extensive material selection

high capacity

rapid prototyping

disadvantages

for complex

parts and larger parts.

Tolerances: ISO 2768-1 specifies the tightest tolerances, as the standard tolerance for metals is +/-0.05mm and the standard tolerance for plastics is +/-0.2mm. Tighter tolerances should be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
