How to choose aluminum profile processing materials? Introducing two different aluminum processing cases
Aluminum profile machining is very popular for making parts and components because of their wide range of properties, they are lightweight, corrosion resistant, highly conductive, and can be formed into almost any shape. Aluminum is widely used and aluminum profile machining materials are readily available, but not all aluminum is created equal. Different aluminum has different properties that will determine if it is suitable for the project. Although there are several different types of aluminum profiles, they all have different characteristics. We next introduce two different aluminum profile processing cases.
Aluminum profile processing material: Model 5052-H32
Material 5052-H32 is commonly referred to as anodized aluminum. The choice of this aluminum profile processing material is more popular due to its excellent surface quality. The main ingredient in 5052-H32 is magnesium, which is responsible for its low melting point and lack of brittleness. It has medium to high strength and is easy to weld. Common uses for 5052-H32 include cookware, food processing equipment, auto parts, ladders, tool boxes, car bumpers, and more. This is an extremely versatile aluminum, but it cannot be heat treated and lacks the hardness of other aluminums, making it a poor choice for some projects.
Aluminum profile processing material: Model 6061-T6
Material 6061-T6 is an aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloying elements. These elements make it extremely resistant to corrosion and have very good machinability. This aluminum profile processing material is easy to weld and dissipates heat well. It's fairly sturdy and hard, and its hardness makes it easier to work with. Common uses of 6061-T6 aluminum profile processing materials are boats, aircraft parts, valve bodies, gears, fasteners, etc. Another benefit of 6061-T6 is that it can be heat treated, expanding the usefulness of 6061-T6. While 6061-T6 is a very versatile and useful material, it is not suitable for some projects. It is extremely difficult to use as a sheet metal due to the possibility of cracking or cracking during the forming process.
Both 5052-H32 and 6061-T6 aluminum profile processing materials have their advantages and disadvantages. They are two similar but different aluminum alloys and in most cases they are not interchangeable. Take the time to determine which method is best for your aluminum profile fabrication material fabrication needs, and if you need any help making that decision, please feel free to contact us. We are more than happy to work with you to find the material that best suits your needs.
