What are the common technological processes of precision hardware processing?

Precision Metalworking Contracts are awarded to metal fabricators after we bid for work based on detailed drawings prior to establishing the project. Create blueprints, define dimensions and specifications, and finalize calculations.

Of course, the type of metal that precision metal processing will basically use. Many suppliers are able to use aluminum, copper, iron, silver, steel, stainless steel, magnesium, etc. Some suppliers specialize in a certain type of metal or manufacturing process.

Process type

The following are the different types of precision metal fabrication processes that take place after the initial stages of project planning:

One, cutting

Sheet metal is divided into smaller sections by sawing, laser cutting, water jet cutting or plasma cutting. These tasks can be performed by CNC (Computer Numerical Control) or power tools. Cutting is often the first step in a precision hardware fabrication project. It doesn't always have to be a piece of metal, sometimes pre-formed metal like a bar can be cut.

Die cutting is the process of cutting material using a die. Rotary die cutting employs a cylindrical die attached to a rotary press, flat die cutting uses a press to cut shapes from thicker metals, and digital die cutting involves computer-controlled lasers and blades.

Second, castings

Casting is the process of pouring molten metal into a mold to cool and harden over time to produce a precision metalworking product. This is useful when you need several of the same parts, such as pipe nozzles, brass nuts and bolts, or aluminum mounting plates. It also saves money because it can fast-track a series of processes (i.e. cutting, folding, stamping) that might be used to make the same part.

A permanent mold is made of steel or cast iron. The molten metal is poured, cooled and removed. A sand cast will break to reveal the fabricated parts. During die casting, metal is poured into a mold and forced to hold its shape through applied pressure.

Three, welding

How to manufacture precision metal processing products such as car ramps and building brackets? Using welding, this involves putting two metal parts together. This is achieved through a combination of heat and pressure. There are four main welding processes:

Bar or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) joins metals together by using a high temperature electric current that forms an arc between the electrode bar and the metal. The most common process is metal inert gas (MIG) or gas metal arc welding (GMAW), which applies a shielding gas along a wire electrode with a constant direct power source. To join heavier metals such as stainless steel, tungsten rods are used by tungsten inert gas (TIG) or gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Magnetic flux submerged arc welding (FCAW) uses a tubular wire with flux inside and does not always require a shielding gas.

4. Stamping and Stamping

Stamping uses a press to create indentations and lift the metal to create a specific shape. This is how coins are made.

Stamping uses a press to create holes in metal by placing the metal between a punch and a die. Holes are required for things like tightening latches. Blanking is when specialized punches work on a sheet of material to make multiple parts at the same time - the stamped metal is the final product.

Five, fold

It's a complex process that means bending metal at different angles, and often involves braking a press to shape the sheet. Products such as shelf supports or computer equipment are produced in this way.

Six, shearing

Straight upper and lower cutting blades, or punches and dies, are used to divide long cuts and split sheet metal into two parts.

Seven, processing

To remove material from sheet metal and shape it to your specifications, use machining. Drilling will create the hole, turning uses a lathe to rotate the part and create a cylindrical shape, and milling uses a multipoint tool that will move against the metal to remove unwanted material. These are done manually or by CNC machinery.
