Explore CNC machining of mechanical parts using geometry and slitting saws

When CNC machining requires deeper cuts than deeper materials, a slitting saw is ideal for getting the job done. Slit saws are unique due to their composition and rigidity, so they can accommodate a variety of simple and understandable mechanical materials.

What is a slotting saw?

Slitting saws are flat (with or without plates), circular saws, with a hole in the center, and a toothed outer diameter. When used with shanks, slitters are used for machining purposes and need to remove large volumes of material of small diameters, such as grooving or cutting applications.

CNC machining processes include (but are not limited to) slitting knives, slitting knives, jewelry saws and slitting knives. Sometimes a special type of longitudinal saw is used. For example, if there are a large number of teeth, small, precise features can be cut. For longitudinal saws used to machine certain special mechanical parts, the number of teeth is usually much higher than that of other types of teeth, so the cut should be as precise as possible.

Why use a longitudinal saw for CNC machining?

Designed to cut ferrous and non-ferrous materials, these blades utilize their unique shape and geometry to cut slotted features on parts more efficiently than any other tool.

Common applications:

If the application requires cutting a piece of material in half, such as a rod, a slitting saw can do a good job of separating the parts and increasing efficiency. If installed correctly, the saw can perform undercut applications, eliminating the need to completely reinstall the workpiece. Ability to create grooves with significant depth of cut.

Although it may resemble a stainless steel circular saw blade from a hardware store, a cracking saw should always be used with construction tools like a watch or a circular saw. When used on a manual machine, fragile saw blades such as slotting saws can break and cause damage when used with incorrect settings.
