CNC Lathe Machining: Operator Assistance Systems and New Benchtop Systems
Two new developments in CNC lathe machining technology were revealed this year. First, a new operator assistance system and a new table top system are employed to speed up machine operation. In addition, entry-level aluminum matrix tables are now available for CNC lathe machines. Both of these features can improve process quality and flexibility during production.
Operator assistance systems are now also available for drilling and dowel insertion into the machine
Customers are already familiar with our panel splitting technology and, since this spring, our edgebanders. The system uses an interactive LED strip to show the operator where the workpiece should be placed. The LED light bar shows the position relative to the length of the workpiece. This technique is now also available for drilling and doweling machines.
As the system provides new opportunities for visual monitoring within the operator's field of vision, providing operators with improved user-friendliness, the efficiency and output of drilling and dowel processing can be immediately increased. Interactive LED strips provide information using a variety of colors:
White indicates where the workpiece needs to be placed
Green confirms that the workpiece is properly positioned. Ideal for horizontal drilling and direct locating pins in split workpieces. The machine can also handle vertical machining around the edges of the workpiece.
Now, machines are easier to operate, process sequences are faster and process quality is higher thanks to direct visual monitoring.
At the same time, it wants to provide more flexibility for CNC lathe machining users, even for entry-level models. That's why the groove matrix table is available as a series of new options.
With this new option, the user has a significant advantage: The slotted aluminium matrix table means that the clamping device can be connected by positive locking, so the workpiece can be held securely - even with high resistance. The design of the vacuum drive within the table optimizes the distribution of vacuum, reduces leakage and losses in vacuum transfer, and does not require complicated installation. Matrix tables can also be used with the unit due to the various clamping devices with variable clamping heights. This is ideal for handling small batches or special shapes from solid wood to plate-shaped workpieces. Another bonus: with more functionality the table can be equipped with 3-axis, 4-axis or even 5-axis technology.
