25 Professional terms of Everything you Need to Know about Sheet Metal Processing

Every industry has its professional terms, sheet metal processing industry is no exception. The following 25 are common

  • (1) Press-Riveting: the use of punch or hydraulic press to riveting nuts, riveting screws or riveting nut column and other fasteners firmly pressed on the workpiece

  • (2) Expansion-Riveting: first the workpiece will sink, and then use the punch or hydraulic press to increase riveting nut firmly pressed on the workpiece

  • (3) Pull mother: the use of similar riveting process. Connect the riveting nut (POP) and other connectors firmly to the workpiece with the pull gun

  • (4) Pull riveting: pull riveting gun as a tool with a pull nail will be two or more than two workpiece closely connected together

  • (5) riveting: the process of connecting two or more workpiece face to face with rivets. If countersunk head riveting, the workpiece should be submerged first.

  • (6) Angle cutting: in the punch or oil press on the use of a mold to remove the workpiece Angle

  • (7) Bending: the workpiece is formed by the bending machine

  • (8) Forming: in the ordinary press or other equipment to use the mold to make the workpiece deformation

  • (9) Cutting: the material through the shearing machine to get rectangular workpiece

  • (10) Blanking: the workpiece is cut by LASER or CNC punch

  • (11) Feeding: in the ordinary press or other equipment on the use of mold processing product shape

  • (12) Punching: the workpiece is processed by ordinary punching press and mold

  • (13) Punch convex: in the punch or hydraulic press with a die to form a convex shape of the workpiece

  • (14) Impact tearing: in the punch or hydraulic press with a die to form the workpiece like a bridge shape

  • (15) Hole pumping: in the ordinary press or other equipment on the use of the mold to form a round hole on the workpiece side up

  • (16) Tapping: the internal thread is processed on the workpiece

  • (17) Leveling: the workpiece is not smooth before and after processing, and other equipment is used to level the workpiece

  • (18) Back teeth: the workpiece with teeth tapped in advance for the second time to repair the screw teeth

  • (19) Drilling: in the drilling machine or milling machine on the use of the drill to drill the workpiece

  • (20) Chamfering: use molds, files, grinding machines and other tools to process the sharp corners of the workpiece

  • (21) Printing: use a mold to print out text, symbols or other marks on the workpiece

  • (22) Countersunk hole: in order to match similar countersunk head screws and a type of connector, and in the workpiece processing a taper hole

  • (23) Flat: to have a certain shape of the workpiece transition to smooth

  • (24) Punching mesh: in the ordinary press or CNC punch with a die on the workpiece out of the mesh hole

  • (25) Reaming: drill or milling cutter to process small holes on the workpiece into large holes
